Ham Radio: Sony MDR-7506 Headphone Reverse Phase Switch
Переглядів 2063 місяці тому
Video showing how to easily add a reverse phase switch to the Sony MDR-7506 headphones. These switches are found on the higher-end Heil headsets. By reversing the polarity in one ear, the sound can be "moved" around in the head giving a different "perspective" on a received signal. Hard to explain in words, but if you know....you know. This mod is not Sony 7506 specific, I've done it to other m...

I've done this for $150 with my RSPdx AND have point & cluck qsy!
My 7300 eqipped with V1.41 JULY 26 2024 P+ on-off no noise increase
Literally just finished installing mine, wish I saw this lol
@@labbinbreeze2832 can't beat the SE headers...great value
I have almost the identical setup using an IC-7000 and AH-4. Though, I have changed my setup recently to having my mast (heavier than yours) about 30' from the truck and using an 84' wire up and over the mast as an inverted V.
It worked great, but I didn't get to stay long on FD. The radiator is one-half of a 40m rotatable dipole I built a few months ago.
Hey nice video, I'm trying to build my own igate what is the screen name, and where to get it? 73.
I used the DigiPi bundle by KM6LYW. If you are a supporting member, he allows access to the software package. Well worth it in my opinion.
Hi can you tell me what type of diodes you removed from the ICOM 7300 matrix do you have a part number thanks
1SS400T1G...Digikey part# 1SS400T1GOSCT-ND
Nice job with the install. Have you noticed any impact to your vehicle radio while transmitting due to the close proximity to the shark fin antenna?
No ill effect whatsoever.
what's the tank and everything in it
The companies whom we put food on their table for their families really piss me off as a customer by hiding what I'm actually buying for instance the Yaesu ft 710 seems to have a temporary Mars mod and when people put up post about it yasu must be legally threatening them because they soon come down. These are not the type of God damn companies I really want to do business with. Shame on them and if I can hurt them financially I f****** will.
Thank you for doing this the radio companies that are radio purchases put food on their table or off and very dishonest with us. Yaesu for example refuses to document the cross band repeater functionality of their radios. F*** all of them as far as I'm concerned if there were choices other than supporting these dishonest companies that don't care about their customers I wouldn't be buying any of their goddamn products.
Great videos man. I would have let lose both engine mounts to sag it a bit for easier install, but we all know how everyone online is a critic lol.
What will be the price

Excellent!
I appreciate your videos! Thanks for this one. 73 de WA3RSL
Thanks..appreciate it
Nice work!
I know that this is an old video, but I have purchased the ECM pins from EFI Connection in Erie, Pennsylvania. They could supply even a length of wire to do this. Hope this helps somebody out.
Thank you 😊 🙏🏾
When a build video? I’d love to do this to a Yaesu 991A.
Soon. Working on a slight revision to make it plug and play.
This type is very dangerous
My friend, can you help me how to make a Crossband Repeater? VHF TO VHF . Between two devices icom 2200+2300 or 2300+2300 , anything, thanks my friend ,A65PP 73
very nice and very much like...... god jobs. A65pp 73 brother
Thanks!

overkill imho with the upper "truss". could have just done a cap on the mast with an eyebolt in it, then run some Dacron with S hooks from there to your support point on the antenna and used a hose clamp there.
Can i completely remove the other pigtail from the factory ECU and the factory diagnostic port?
@@blocscustomz It's been so long I don't remember. Make sure the harness with the ALDL is not the one that contains the starter and ignition wires.
@@n5yiz looks like none of them do.
that is amazing. How does it work with CW? Does it see the dits and dahs as noise?
@@KD9ZHF I haven't had a chance to test it out past that little demo. I will try to give a little more of a review later.
@@n5yiz I'm looking forward to your next review
Too bad it's not available anymore. Seems like a good solution.
Yeah, unfortunately it looks like he ended the project. I've been powering my RPI Allstar mobile node with it here on the bench for the last few days. It works perfect.
Can you tell me what cable you purchased? I need about 50 feet for my setup. Thanks so much.
this is filtering out the audio, I get a S9 noise floor, I haven’t researched yet but it was suggested to run radio off the battery and turn off the mains power to see if the RFI is just in the house. For example, I was told that Apple iPhone chargers are a bit noisy.
Most of us don't have enough real estate to make this a practical proposition.
That is more than impressive
Yeah, it really is.
@@n5yiz I’m assuming the email address on the envelope that I screenshot, is a way to contact him and order one for my Yaesu FT-950 ?? Also , I saw you were using your 7300 as a shortwave receiver picking up world news , talk shows , etc ? I do that quite often , I thought I was the only one lol There’s so much stuff going on down there as far as broadcasts, it’s pretty neat . Although since I had to take my dipoles down for 40/20 meter it’s not as good for me trying to receive from a Yagi type antenna . What kind of wire antenna/dipole/length do you think is best to hook up to my 2nd antenna SO-239 for just receiving broadcast ??
Dang thanks for the vid I was quoted $1200 to get my old system re installed in my new 24’ Laramie
made my 20m dipole with 2 16.5 ft fiberglass fishing poles from B&M poles. light weight and cheap
I'm interested in your system. With the fishing rods. Like the wire size and mounting of the rods.
Currently doing this to my l83 had dod failure, had a couple of l86 cans laying around
Can you tell me what cable I should buy to make a longer OPC-420? Thanks so much.
I'm not familiar with the OPC-420. Is it the cable with a 4-pin connector on one end and no connector on the other?
Great video!!
How comfortable are those bilsteins for daily driving? I dont tow/haul at all and I do as much offroading as you do in your lowered truck 🤣. Are they harsh on the highways and city streets? Everyone says theyre firm, im not sure if that means theyre uncomfortable tho. And how do they compare to the factory ranchos in terms of comfort?
They're definitely firm. It's a short bed, so it's rough anyway. The flipside is that it handles well and the steering feels confident.
@@n5yizare they smoother then the stock ones ? I have a single cab like yours too and I want something more smoother so I am thinking to put this Bilstein 4600
How much power can it hold
I'm not sure. I would say at least 700 wheel. There are people that have gone a long way on a stock parts.
Part2?
Will this work on a 2017 Cadillac Escalade esv 6.2L? If so can you post a link and what needs to be done to get it working.
The 2017 Escalade should be the same as in the video. Look under the truck for the plug.
@@n5yiz will it need programming?

I would have loved a setup like that.. 30 plus years ago but now times are different. Voice communication are so much less on the HF bands and we have the Internet for making new contacts.
Did you get this out of the antenna book?
No, just made it up. It's just a simple dipole.
I love 160 meters! I was going to make a coil to run mobile. A long time ago 160 was used like the 2 meter band. Contrary to popular ham belief, it is really the only band that has a strong/reliable ground wave. Usually even works when the sun wipes out every other NVIS band for local/semi regional coms. I wish more lower power stations would get on it. There is always plenty of elbow room down there. I was able to get some contacts on my big loop for that contests but none outside of the USA. Thanks for the video.
I plan on going down the 160 "rabbit hole" next winter. I'll be working on a full-wave loop towards the end of the summer.
Update 7-26-2024: The 10 year old Kicker speakers finally gave up the ghost. The foam around the cones just couldn't take it anymore. We replaced them with the exact same speakers. Back in business in 20 minutes.
Correction: The Kicker 10s were 12 years old! I originally had them in my 2012 Silverado. Kicker makes really good speakers!
Good
Do you have a Length List for the other bands. I plan to make this 20 meter to your specks.
You can adjust the 20m version down to get the higher bands. I just use the quarter wave formula to get it close and then fine adjust from there. Use a Sharpie to mark the tubes for different band configs. It's going to be a couple months, but I'll be installing the 20m and 40m permanently on a Rohn mast. I'll try to video as much as I can.
@@n5yiz so bringing in the elements brings it from 20 down to what meter band you want? I’m learning as I go.
@@jeffmay1024 Yes
What gauge is the radials wire you using?
Those are 10 gauge, made from Silicone wire from Amazon. I only used them briefly in that configuration. Unable to determine if they made any difference.
